Harris Conservation EasementProject Summary
The Harris Conservation Easement is located along the Bear River in Caribou County, Idaho. The 113 acre conservation easement is just across the river from the Land Trust’s Kackley Preserve. The conservation easement will permanently protect the property’s diverse open space values, including riparian areas along the Bear River, wetlands and springs, as well as prime agricultural and ranch land. The project continues the acquisition of conservation lands in the Bear River Drainage aimed at protecting and improving habitat for Bonneville Cutthroat Trout and countless other species. The conservation easement allows the landowners to continue traditional farming and ranching, but forever prohibits development and harmful land uses and activities on the property.
